Gabby Rivera is a Bronx-born, queer Puerto Rican storyteller on a mission to bring joy, heart, and bold, transformative storytelling to every space they enter. Best known as the first Latina to write for Marvel Comics with America, the solo series about the portal-punching superhero America Chavez, Gabby has built a career celebrating the magic of queer, BIPOC, and Diasporican communities.

Their debut novel, Juliet Takes a Breath, was called “f*cking outstanding” by Roxane Gay and was republished by Penguin Random House in 2019. A TED speaker with over 1.5 million views, Gabby has presented at the United Nations, collaborated with major organizations like Ford Motor Company and the Makers Women’s Conference, and received the 2022 Advancing Justice Award alongside Dolores Huerta.

With a dynamic presence and a gift for blending humor, storytelling, and deep insight, Gabby has delivered dozens of talks at corporations, colleges, and ERGs on radical representation, and the power of joyful storytelling. Currently based on the West Coast, they teach English Literature at Spokane College and lead writing workshops nationwide.
