Angela Sterritt is an award-winning investigative journalist, national bestselling author, and TV, radio, and podcast host. She is from Wilp Wiik’aax of the Gitanmaax community within the Gitxsan Nation on her father’s side and from Bell Island, Newfoundland, on her mother’s side. She spent over a decade at CBC, where she hosted the award-winning podcast Land Back. Her debut book Unbroken (2023), part memoir and part investigation into the murders and disappearances of Indigenous women and girls, became an instant national bestseller and was nominated for both the Governor General’s Literary Award and the Hilary Weston Writer’s Trust Prize. Her forthcoming book, Breakable (2026) will examine how racism and colonialism shape harmful ideas of masculinity and how Indigenous men and communities are breaking these cycles.
Sterritt has received numerous national awards, including a Canadian Screen Award for Best Reporter, two RTDNA awards, and recognition on Vancouver Magazine’s Power 50 list. She accepted the Investigative Award of the Year from Canadian Journalists for Free Expression on behalf of her team, held a William Southam Journalism Fellowship at Massey College, and taught at several universities. As a speaker, she addresses themes of overcoming adversity, breaking stereotypes, and building stronger relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, including through her widely viewed TED Talk.
