Matt Ortile is the author of the essay collection The Groom Will Keep His Name and the co-editor of the nonfiction anthology Body Language. He currently work as an editor, writer, and on-camera host at Condé Nast Traveler, where their coverage spans food and drink, LGBTQ+ travel, destination advice, and sustainable and ethical travel.
Previously, He served as executive editor of the National Magazine Award–winning literary journal Catapult, after first joining the publication as managing editor. Before that, He was the founding editor of BuzzFeed Philippines. They are a fellow of the Sewanee Writers’ Conference (2022) and MacDowell (2019), and their writing has appeared in Vogue, Esquire, Afar, TripAdvisor, BuzzFeed News, and other publications.
As an educator, Matt has taught creative writing workshops and seminars at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, Kundiman, PEN America, the Center for Fiction, and Catapult, as well as for the Los Angeles Review of Books, Poets & Writers, and elsewhere.
