Dr. Rosa Vásquez Espinoza is a globally recognized leader in conservation and sustainability, National Geographic Explorer, Rolex Laureate 2026, UNESCO-Al Fozan Laureate 2025, and Ph.D. chemical biologist pioneering innovative approaches at the intersection of biodiversity, leadership, science, and Indigenous knowledge. Raised between the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon Rainforest, she bridges cutting-edge science, storytelling, and human-centered sustainability to drive real-world environmental and social impact.
Rosa is the Founder and Executive Director of Amazon Research Internacional, leading interdisciplinary conservation and community-based initiatives across the Amazon basin focused on biodiversity protection, pollinator conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. Her work helped achieve the world’s first legal recognition of an insect’s rights and has inspired new models connecting biodiversity conservation, regenerative economies, community empowerment, and purpose-driven leadership. This work is now being scaled globally across various continents under Rosa’s leadership.
